Women Giving Back (WGB), a HomeAid Northern Virginia program that provides free clothing to women and children in Northern Virginia homeless shelters, hosted its most successful Cinco de Mayo fundraising event in history, with record-breaking attendance, sponsorships and auction sales. The event ultimately netted more than $31,000 for WGB and provided a fun night of dancing, dining and relaxing under the big tent, as well as the opportunity to tour the WGB Store and see first-hand the monumental effort required of WGB volunteers every month.
“Our Cinco de Mayo event is important not only for fundraising and for thanking our many volunteers, but also for introducing ourselves to people who haven’t yet volunteered,” said WGB co-founder Terri Stagi, “It’s an enormous undertaking to collect and sort donations, as well as work at The Store on shopping days. We’re always pleased to see so many new faces volunteering after events like Cinco de Mayo.”
