The homes and shelter facilities we build and renovate are beautiful, welcoming, and comforting, but they are missing some of the most basic items that a person needs to recover from homelessness and get back on their feet. Filling refrigerators with much-needed food or homes with new kitchen utensils and bathroom supplies is just one way that your volunteering efforts can make a positive difference in someone’s life.
Volunteerism and collection drives often surge around the winter holidays, and with feedback from our non-profit partners, we are shifting our annual Builders for Babies diaper and wipes drive to the weeks between Mother’s Day (May 14th) and Father’s Day (June 18th). This change will ensure that we align with a time when our partners are both in critical need of supplies and when they have the capacity to store them. We know we can reach our goal of 50,000 diapers and wipes with the help of our generous community! Here’s how you can get involved:
Contributing items like diapers and wipes are vitally important anytime, but with prices rising as supply issues continue, there’s no better time than now to help! Unfortunately, diapers and wipes cannot be purchased using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).

HomeAid National Capital Region builds and renovates housing and shelters for the homeless. While our finished projects provide safety and stability for people who were once homeless, they are missing many of the basic items that you and I take for granted – towels, sheets, pots, pans, dishes, and everything else needed for a happy home.

Care Days are hands-on volunteer service days during which volunteers come together to give back to a local HomeAid nonprofit partner by landscaping, organizing, and cleaning. If your company is interested in hosting a Care Day, please contact Julianna Blaylock at 703.953.3529.
Project Playhouse is a unique opportunity for builders to partner with HomeAid to construct and donate custom-built playhouses for our nonprofit partners serving youth. Children need a dedicated space of their own where they can create, imagine and explore with their peers. HomeAid believes every child deserves a place to run around and be kids despite their housing circumstances.

If your organization serves individuals or families affected by homelessness and has housing or program space that is in need of extensive renovations or you have a bigger construction vision for the future, HomeAid can help!
Serving as a Builder Captain may be one of the most satisfying construction projects you, your partners, and your staff will ever experience.
Trade Partners are the backbone of our accomplishments! Each HomeAid project relies on the generosity, expertise, and commitment of many partners working together.
You don’t need to be a Builder or Trade Partner to be part of the solution—find out how you can get involved!
