Trade Partner of the Year Award: John Darvish Construction

The Trade Partner of the Year Award, which is presented to a vendor, trade partner or industry partner who has gone above and beyond in their service to HomeAid Northern Virginia, was presented to the John Darvish Construction.

“John Darvish Construction and its president, John Darvish, has worked tirelessly on behalf of HomeAid Northern Virginia, consistently contributing to several shelter projects every year and donating thousands of dollars in materials, time, and expertise to help organizations in our community,” Monacci said. “The company—and John—have been a voice for our trade partners around the HomeAid Board table for years and have helped us in incalculable ways.”

“I’m honored to be part of this organization, and I’m honored to be part of an effort that changes so many people’s lives,” said Darvish. “I arrived in this country in my early 20s, with only $26 in my pocket, and I was looking for the same freedoms and opportunities that so many others do today. And although I was never homeless, there were nights when I asked the ‘what ifs …’ So being in the position now to help other people get through one more day, one more week, one more month … and achieve their goal of stability means that my own life’s goal is being achieved. It’s an emotional thing, and although I don’t do this for any recognition, it’s a wonderful feeling knowing that I’m part of this community of givers. This award is representative of the miracle of the American system, which is about sacrifice and giving but that holds so much promise for all of us.”
