signature-company-logoHomeAid Northern Virginia, a local nonprofit that builds and renovates homeless shelters and other supportive housing facilities that help local homeless families and individuals get back on the road to self-sufficiency, announced today that Signature Companies has won its 2016 Trade Partner of the Year Award.

HomeAid’s trade partners are those in the home building industry – suppliers, manufacturers, sub-contractors, electricians, plumbers, etc. – who play meaningful roles in shelter construction projects by donating materials, time, and expertise. The Trade Partner of the Year Award is presented to a partner who has gone above and beyond in their service to HomeAid.

Headquartered in Haymarket, VA., Signature Companies is a supplier of kitchen/bath cabinetry and manufacturer of stairways, railings, built-in cabinetry and countertops.  Signature Companies is a family-owned business with 200 employees who are exclusively focused on supply and installation of its products to residential home builders throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Most recently, Signature Companies assisted HomeAid with the kitchen renovation of a Pathway Homes townhouse property in Reston providing housing and supportive services to adults with serious mental illness, and the renovation of a New Hope Housing property in Alexandria providing housing to families that have at least one parent facing a disability. Other projects Signature Companies supported with HomeAid include the renovation of an eight-unit facility for the Loudoun Transitional Housing Program/Volunteers of America in (2013), renovation of an Alternative House property for young mothers looking to finish their education and gain employment (2013) and enhancements to the Alive House project (2009). In total, Signature Companies has participated on 10 HomeAid Northern Virginia projects and has provided labor, resources and materials worth more than $70,000 towards the enhancements and improvements of shelters and supportive housing facilities.

“This award recognizes Signature Companies’ willingness to step up and pitch in, regularly – over the long term, and provide tremendous assistance with HomeAid’s projects to serve our region’s homeless communities,” said Greg Carter, president of HANV’s board of directors and senior vice president of commercial real estate banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. “Signature Companies and its team exemplify what it means to be dedicated, driven and committed to helping our local community by using its expertise in Kitchen, Bathroom and Stairway design and manufacturing to improve housing facilities for the most vulnerable among us.”

“We enjoy partnering with HomeAid and the builder partners that coordinate and manage the projects.  We want HomeAid and our customers to know that we are fully invested when it comes to serving the HomeAid mission.  We believe that lending our expertise and resources to these projects is good for the community, our company and our employees. Our employees frequently donate their talents and labor to support these types of projects,” said John Lombardozzi, president and owner of Signature Companies.  “We are honored to be chosen as the 2016 HomeAid Trade Partner of the Year, and we appreciate the opportunity HomeAid Northern Virginia provides us to collaborate with local nonprofit housing and homeless organizations to help make a positive and lasting impact on our community and on people’s lives. There is no greater responsibility to assist and serve those that are in need. Our company has been blessed and we are committed to the philosophy, “from those to whom much is given, much is expected.”

Signature also lends its resources to support Habitat for Humanity and to supporting the men and woman of our armed forces who volunteer to protect our freedom. Recently, Signature renovated two kitchens and stairways for the Willing Warriors Retreat at Bull Run in Haymarket, Va. and is starting a new project to build “Smart Homes” for disabled veterans with the Gary Sinise Foundation near Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda, Md.
