Langley Residential Support Services - Indigo Lane - Fairfax, VA

This project focused on a single-family home owned and operated by Langley Residential Support Services, an organization that provides supportive housing for individuals with developmental disabilities. The goal of the project was to enhance the safety, accessibility, and functionality of the home, ensuring a more comfortable and dignified living environment for its residents.

Interior improvements included:

• Replacing outdated and inadequate appliances with new, energy-efficient models.
• Removing damaged cabinets and installing new cabinetry to improve storage and usability.
• Replacing worn flooring with durable luxury vinyl plank throughout key living areas and installing new carpet on the stairwell.
• Painting the entire interior to refresh and brighten the home.
• Installing lever-style door handles to make doors easier to operate for residents with mobility limitations.
• Constructing a secure storage area for household supplies and resident medications.
• Replacing bathroom vanities and updating associated hardware.

Exterior improvements included:

• Power washing and re-staining the gazebo to restore its appearance and extend its useful life.
• Removing deteriorated steps leading to the gazebo and constructing new, safer stairs.
• Reinforcing the rear exterior stairwell and handrails to improve stability and resident safety.
• Conducting a comprehensive roof inspection to identify and address any leaks or structural concerns.

These improvements transformed the home into a safer, more functional, and more welcoming space, allowing it to better support residents’ overall quality of life.
