HomeAid to Kick-off $250,000 Renovation for the Loudoun Transitional Housing Program

Chantilly, Va., March 18, 2013 — HomeAid Northern Virginia will kick-off the renovation of an eight-unit transitional shelter—the Loudoun Transitional Housing Program — in partnership with Loudoun County and Volunteers of America Chesapeake on March 28, 10:00 am.  The total cost of the project is $250,000 with more than 85% savings coming from Builder Captains Miller & Smith and Winchester Homes and many trade partners.  View photos prior to the renovation.

“This is another excellent example of several parties working together to help the homeless in our area,” said Russell S. Rosenberger, Jr., president, Madison Homes, Inc. and president, HomeAid Northern Virginia. “Every single project we undertake gives more and more individuals and families safe homes where they can plan their futures.”

Eight apartment units used as transitional housing for homeless families and single women will be completely renovated with emphasis on a warm home environment to help them rebuild their lives and get back on the road to self-sufficiency. The renovation, designed to maximize the storage space, includes new: kitchens with granite countertops, new seating and custom-designed tables with peninsula tops; bathrooms with custom shelving; laminate hardwood flooring in entry and living areas; light fixtures, electrical and plumbing; built-in storage by each bed; new bedding, doors, blinds and wire closet shelving systems; and new interior furnishings.

“We are delighted to have such a strong partnership with HomeAid Northern Virginia,” said Russell K. Snyder, president & CEO Volunteers of America Chesapeake. “Part of our mission of caring is to assist our families with the successful transition from homelessness to permanent housing. Providing comfortable and supportive transitional homes helps ensure our families meet their goals and leave our program feeling confident and prepared.”

“Miller & Smith is honored to be one of the Builder Captains for this project.  We have coordinated nearly 10 renovation projects for Home Aid ranging from minor repairs to major re-builds of some of Northern Virginia’s facilities and shelters that help those in need,” said Doug Smith, president of Miller & Smith. “One of our core company values is to give back to the communities where we do business and this project lets us share our expertise in a hands-on manner.”

Journalists are invited to attend the kick-off event on March 28, 10:00 am and tour the property before the renovation. The shelter is located at 19520 Meadowview Court, Leesburg, VA. For more information, contact denise@gavilanmarketing.com, 703-447-9370.
