Join hundreds of professionals from the residential construction industry as they celebrate and support the work of HomeAid Northern Virginia on November 6, 2010 at the Westin Dulles in Herndon, Virginia.
CHANTILLY, VA – Join more than 350 attendees on November 6, 2010 as they support HomeAid Northern Virginia at HOMEAID ROCKS!, the 9th Annual HomeAid Gala and Auction. The attendee list is a “who’s who” of the homebuilding industry – powerful business leaders, elected officials and other Northern Virginia professionals.
“This event is the largest and most important annual fundraiser for HomeAid Northern Virginia,” said John DeZinno, HomeAid Northern Virginia Board President. “Proceeds from the event are used to support HomeAid’s building, renovating and remodeling work that serves countless homeless individuals and families in Northern Virginia. This year alone, HomeAid projects have served 937 people and have saved local Northern Virginia nonprofit care providers thousands of dollars in construction costs. We have been able to provide assistance with renovation and remodeling projects valued at $460,000.”
“Enjoy a fun-filled evening out, honor some local heroes in the residential homebuilding community, and support a much-needed cause,” said Christy Eaton, HomeAid Executive Director. “The event features both silent and live auctions with incredible vacation packages, sporting and event tickets, and other special and unique items up for bid.” Group tables and individual event tickets can be purchased online at homeaidncr.org.
There is something for everyone at this year’s event – great food, one-of-a-kind auction and raffle items, and a chance to recognize and honor several people and organizations receiving the Third Annual Presidents’ Circle Awards sponsored by the Freddie Mac Foundation. This year HomeAid Northern Virginia is proud to recognize:
In addition to the presentation of the Presidents’ Circle Awards, the building industry’s own Lance “The Shred” Kasten, owner of Maryland-based sunroom company Exterior Dynamics and the king of air guitars, will be performing.
Attendees can bring a new toy and support Kids Jam sponsored by the Freddie Mac Foundation. Women Giving Back (WGB) will deliver the toys to a local area shelter to benefit one of the estimated 1,100 homeless children in Northern Virginia. WGB was founded by a core group of building industry sales and marketing professionals to supplement the work of HomeAid by helping transitionally homeless women and children with clothes. For more information on WGB, click here.
Attendees will also hear personal testimony from a formerly homeless individual who was the recipient of a HomeAid project and what that meant to them. They will also see just a few of the projects HomeAid has completed this year and hear about some of the people who have benefited from those renovations in the 2010 HomeAid Shelter Project Video sponsored by Bank of America.
As in the past, the event will feature a silent and live auction, as well as the Paddle Challenge that raises much needed funds for HomeAid projects and raffle drawings for a weekend at the Westin Dulles and two dining gift cards for Padella (valued at $100 each).
HomeAid Northern Virginia, a chapter of HomeAid America, was founded in 2001 by members of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association. Since then, builders and supporters have donated $4 million in labor, materials, management and other resources to either rebuild or rehabilitate homeless shelters and transitional housing facilities in Northern Virginia. The retail value of these projects to the Northern Virginia community has been more than $10 million.
