HomeAid Northern Virginia Elects New President

Chantilly, VA — HomeAid Northern Virginia announced today that Michael J. Scheurer, Northern Virginia Community Outreach Officer for the Virginia Housing Development Authority, has been elected the organization’s 2012 president.

“Through the selfless efforts of Northern Virginia homebuilders and affiliate members, HomeAid has quietly and effectively brought significant value to shelter care providers who work with the homeless, even when the builders who undertake projects have been facing a tough economy,” Scheurer said. “I look forward to being part of the HomeAid team and to initiating and completing new construction and rehabilitation projects in Northern Virginia that allow local jurisdictions and non-profit partners to better serve the homeless.”

Scheurer brings many years of experience in real estate finance and community housing to HomeAid Northern Virginia. He previously worked for the Fannie Mae Washington Metropolitan Community Business Center, the National Association of Home Builders and for the Department of Housing and Community Development in Fairfax County.  During his tenure, the local housing finance and community development agency developed/preserved and financed more than 4,000 units of affordable and workforce housing in addition to other community facilities utilizing a variety of private and public financing sources.
