HomeAid reaches 150th project, most being in Fairfax

HomeAid Northern Virginia recently completed its 150th project building and upgrading emergency shelters and supportive-housing facilities for those experiencing homelessness.

Together, the projects have enabled more than 167,000 of Northern Virginia’s most vulnerable residents – from families experiencing homelessness to victims of domestic abuse to runaway teens – to have a stable place to live.

“The 150 projects we’ve completed since that time bring hope and dignity to individuals and families struggling to obtain stable housing,” said Kristyn Burr, executive director of HomeAid Northern Virginia, the charitable arm of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association.

Alexandria Nonprofits Renovated by HomeAid Northern Virginia to Help Homeless

ALEXANDRIA, VA – HomeAid Northern Virginia (HANV) is a nonprofit organization that believes all people deserve a home. They recently completed their 150th remodeling project in the Northern Virginia area. That number includes 16 sites in Alexandria.

The organization seeks to end homelessness by giving families a safe and stable place to live during transition. HANV accomplishes this through the act of building and renovating other nonprofits that serve the homeless population.

HomeAid Northern Virginia Completes 150th Project Building Local Solutions for Homelessness

This week, HomeAid Northern Virginia (HANV) completed its 150^th project building and upgrading emergency shelters and supportive housing facilities for those experiencing homelessness. Together these 150 projects have enabled 167,000 of Northern Virginia’s most vulnerable residents, from families experiencing homelessness to victims of domestic abuse to runaway teens, to have a stable place to live. HANV has invested more than $18 million into housing options across Northern Virginia communities ($6.2 million in Prince William County) ranging from construction of a brand new residence for pregnant teens, to updating the kitchens and bathrooms of supportive housing properties, to expanding local food pantries to installing upgraded security at domestic violence shelters.
