Bank of America Grant To HomeAid Northern Virginia Provides Funds To Renovate and Upgrade Homeless Shelters, Transitional Housing Programs

Chantilly, VA, October 27, 2016  — HomeAid Northern Virginia announced that it was awarded a $25,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation for its work renovating and upgrading Northern Virginia homeless shelters and transitional housing programs, helping to rebuild lives and end the cycle of homelessness. HomeAid Northern Virginia (HANV) builds and renovates homeless shelters and supportive housing facilities via the donated expertise, labor and resources of local homebuilders – enabling nonprofit organizations serving vulnerable individuals and families to invest more of their budgets in supportive programs and services rather than building expenses.

“If people can’t find an affordable place to live, they can’t begin to think about their overall financial security and future,” said Jeff Wood, Greater Washington market president, Bank of America. “Our philanthropic investments are one way that we’re working to connect individuals in our community to the resources they need to lead financially stable lives.”

Bank of America and the Bank of America Charitable Foundation have a long history of involvement with HomeAid. Since 2004, Bank of America has contributed more than $2 million to support HomeAid America and its 17 chapters. The bank has staff members serving on multiple HomeAid boards nationwide, and more locally, has been continuously represented on HomeAid Northern Virginia’s Board of Directors since HANV was founded 15 years ago.

“HomeAid Northern Virginia appreciates the partnership we have with Bank of America and the funding that we have received from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. This grant helps HANV continue to move forward our mission to help rebuild lives for homeless men, women and children in our region through housing and support services. Bank of America’s commitment and generous contribution strengthens our ability to collaborate on more projects and bring positive change to thousands of lives,” said Christy Zeitz, Executive Director of HomeAid Northern Virginia.
