Our 23rd Annual Gala & Auction is coming up soon, on November 9, and when we say it’s our biggest, most important annual fundraiser, we really mean that. It typically raises a quarter of a million dollars – twice as much as our next-biggest fundraiser – and it sustains our operations to help carry out our mission. The most important aspect of the funds we raise during our Gala is that they are unrestricted fundraising dollars, which means that it can be used for any purpose that aligns with our organizational goals. For example, we can use it to fill gaps between what our Trade Partners and Builder Captains can donate to a project versus the project’s full cost. It also enables us to do things like build playhouses, buy playground equipment, supply bunk beds, or do any similar “extras” that can make a world of difference for the people we serve.
Best of all, the Gala is one of our best examples of an event that offers countless ways for everyone to get involved and be a part of HomeAid’s success! We are incredibly grateful to Builders FirstSource, our Presenting Sponsor, and to all of our sponsors who make the evening possible. We offer a range of opportunities so please make sure to check out our Gala Sponsorship Package. You can also be a Table Captain, which essentially means reaching out to nine colleagues, friends, or business partners and encouraging them to join your table of 10! You’ll all be seated together and you will have the opportunity to share your knowledge about HomeAid to help others learn about us, too. During the event guests will have the chance to bid on a silent or live auction item, or raise your paddle during the Paddle Challenge. There are ways to support HomeAid at literally every level, and every hour or dollar you can contribute builds on our success and our ability to continue.
Lastly, if you’re looking for a year-round volunteer opportunity and want to be a part of all the behind-the-scenes action that make this event possible, we suggest joining our Gala Committee. It’s a great way to meet like-minded people who are also interested in planning, organizing, and giving back.
Thank you in advance for making this year’s Gala our best yet!

With gratitude,

Our biggest fundraiser of the year comes every fall, and this year’s ‘A Night in Morocco’ 2024 Gala & Auction is set for Saturday, November 9, at 6:30 p.m. Sponsorships and registration are now open, gather up some friends and colleagues, and purchase a table for 10 or individual tickets!
For those who love to shop our silent auction, get ready for online access to an incredible array of items that will be available for bidding prior to the event with final bidding culminating at our Gala! Then, our live auction will kick off during dinner, featuring several show-stopping items – more details soon, but we promise you’ll want to come ready to bid!
You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in our always-exciting Paddle Challenge, which routinely raises tens of thousands of dollars in support for our mission, along with signature drinks, live music, networking with the biggest and best in the building industry, a seated dinner, and celebrating our President’s Circle Award winners. Everyone will enjoy a front-row seat to celebrating our work of rebuilding lives for individuals and families who are experiencing or are at risk of experiencing homelessness.
Since 2001, HomeAid National Capital Region has completed over 170 construction projects, saving local nonprofits millions of dollars on construction – allowing these organizations to allocate their critical resources on programming and interventions so individuals and families can work toward stability. These construction projects have changed over 275,000 lives within our region, and it’s events like our Gala that bring critically needed funding to support this mission. Join us on November 9!
A limited number of rooms have been reserved for HomeAid Gala guests. Book your room at a discounted price today!

HomeAid National Capital Region’s SOLD OUT Annual Golf Tournament is next week – on Friday, September 20 – and we look forward to seeing many of you at Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club, where we will celebrate and support our mission of rebuilding lives through construction, community engagement, and education.
Whether you’re golfing, sponsoring, or volunteering to support our event, get ready for a great day of open bars, breakfast and lunch, great raffle prizes, fantastic hole-in-one prizes, tee gifts, and more!
Thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters for ensuring that this year’s tournament is once again our biggest fall networking and business-building event.
Important: If you haven’t already, please send the names of the people who will be golfing on your team to Tammy Glasser at tglasser@homeaidncr.org before the tournament!

At the start of this week, HomeAid National Capital Region, Builder Captain Knutson, and 19 trade partners launched the newest of our renovation projects, this time for Good Shepherd Housing of Northern Virginia’s “Peace House” in Leesburg. The 1,000 square foot home will receive an extensive remodel, including a renovated kitchen with all-new appliances; paint and lighting throughout the interior; updates to the HVAC system, laundry room, and bathrooms; and repairs to the exterior stairways and windows – all to improve functionality, storage, and safety for the family who will live there.
This project marks the second time HomeAid has partnered with Good Shepherd of Northern Virginia, which joins us in a shared vision of seeing individuals and families living in safe, affordable, and permanent housing; and achieving economic independence and self-sufficiency. Good Shepherd was first founded in 1983 in Loudon County, but has expanded to serve surrounding areas.
Be sure to follow our progress on this newest project!

Every one of our supporters plays an invaluable role in helping us provide safe, welcoming homes for those experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness. Since 2017, one of the final trade partners in a long list of supporters to have a hand in making our completed projects look perfect for our nonprofit partners’ clients is Virginia Cleaning & Punchout, Inc. (VCP). The company specializes in post-construction clean up and most recently donated their services to a project completed for ALIVE! We sat down with Natasha Tellez-Mansy to find out more about her company and its work with HomeAid.

Q: VCP has donated its time and expertise to nearly a dozen HomeAid projects. How did you first find out about us, and what has inspired you company to keep saying ‘yes!’?
A: We were asked by one of our builders if we would like to participate in a HomeAid project, and after taking into consideration the purpose and message HomeAid delivers, we were ‘all in’ from the start. Although VCP is a small company, we are a woman- and minority-owned business as well, with a belief we should be giving back to our community.
Q: Your work is unique, helping ensure that we turn these homes over to our nonprofit partner’s families in beautiful condition. What do you typically do for HomeAid projects?
A: Our scope of work as a business is to provide new construction a final clean, labor, power wash, and punchout/carpentry. We’ve expanded over the years to include composite crew, equipment operators, carpet cleaning, cabinet install, flagging, and COVID cleans, and we clean anything from a small condo all the way to a 26-story building. For HomeAid, we provide anything we can, depending on what is needed: We’ve donated our time to help rebuild bathrooms and kitchens, while other shelters and homes have needed a deep cleaning. When doing a site visit prior to starting the work requested, we will always offer more than asked because it’s the right thing to do.
Q: What would you tell another trade partner considering working with HomeAid?
A: I would say that giving back to one’s community should be a top priority for any business owner. VCP is not only concerned about building houses for new homeowners; we want those who may not be able to afford a house to also have a good quality of life. I believe that everybody has the right to a safe and welcoming home environment, and whether we provide the cleaning, labor, or carpentry to help facilitate that, we will always be open to helping in any way we can.

Thank You
Thank you, K.Hovnanian, for making HomeAid National Capital Region the beneficiary of your Annual Golf Tournament last week! Your generous gift of over $30,000 will directly support our mission of helping families and individuals gain stability through housing and preventative services.

Auction Items Needed
Our 2024 Gala & Auction is coming up in November, and we are gathering live and online auction items now! You can support this event and our mission with donated items you may have access to, such as gift certificates, signed memorabilia, private tours, vacation getaways, dinner with a local celebrity, vouchers for services, classes (cooking, dancing, etc.), or event tickets (sports, theatre, etc.). Your participation not only helps build new lives within our community, but includes you in a uniquely effective marketing opportunity which gives you wide visibility among our more than 300 attendees.
