The NVBIA Custom Builders Council, led by Touchstone Custom Homes, recently completed a renovation of a property owned by Community Residences. The $50,000 project centered on completely renovating the circa 1970s kitchen—including new cabinets, appliances, tile floor and granite countertops—but also encompassed adding cabinetry in the dining room for storage; redesigning the on-site staff office to maximize useable space and add storage; updating the electrical system; upgrading the water heater to better fit the size of the house; and landscaping the property for better curb appeal.
“Each of our seven residents cooks once a week for everyone, and they all sit down together like one big family,” said Cherie Harris, Community Residences program manager. “This kitchen makes a direct impact on their recovery and helps expedite their transition.”
Touchstone Custom Homes is a member of NVBIA’s Custom Builder Council (CBC). The CBC, made up of about 30 builder companies, hopes to participate in two HomeAid projects per year as part of their community service efforts.
