Due to the lack of handicap accessible housing, homeless families sometimes remain in shelters longer than necessary. Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church recognized this issue, and with HomeAid’s assistance, took the first steps to alleviate this problem. Ryland Homes, which since has merged with Standard Pacific to create CalAtlantic Homes, renovated this 2,300 square ft. transitional home and added handicap accessible features, new siding, windows and doors, a new deck, and improved landscaping. In addition, this project valued at $87,535 included renovations to the kitchen and bathrooms, and a new heat pump was installed, providing better living conditions for our community’s homeless families.
