Renovations at ALIVE! House included three new bathrooms, new kitchens, painting, gutters, fixing electrical outlets and many other improvements. Joe Murray, Vice President of Construction for K. Hovnanian Homes, recognized the trade partners at the ceremony and estimated that the renovations saved ALIVE! House more than $53,000 in out-of-pocket expenses, or about 75 percent of the cost of hiring outside renovation contractors.
Established in 1972, the ALIVE! House is the oldest continuously operated shelter for women and families in Northern Virginia. In addition to safe temporary housing, ALIVE! House provides residents with intensive in-house case management as well as supportive services and resource referrals through community partnerships.
